The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button in London
Following a sold-out run at Southwark Playhouse last year and scoring great reviews from critics, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is now at home in the West End. The winner of Best Musical at the Off West End Awards, discover everything the foot-stomping show with a warm heart has to offer at the Ambassadors Theatre.
Why you should book The Curious Case of Benjamin Button tickets
- Based on the 13-Academy-Award-nominated 2008 movie that starred Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.
- Hailed by many critics as their stand out musical highlight of 2023.
- Featuring a breathtaking soundtrack that is brought to life by an unforgettable actor-musician ensemble.
A magical award-winning production
The iconic short story has been relocated to a Cornish fishing village by the writers Jethro Compton and Darren Clark, who have created an extraordinary tale about a timeless love that survives despite everything. Their enchanting new musical has already won Best Musical Theatre Production at the 2024 Off West End Awards along with five star reviews from Broadway World, The Reviews Hub and The Upcoming.
Compton is a British writer, director and theatre producer loved for his work on the world première of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Wolf’s Blood, Syrenia and more. Musician and lyricist Darren Clark has previously worked on Turing A Musical, The Wicker Husband, The Coup Coup Club and more.
The action takes place at the end of World War One, following Benjamin Button as he lives through the twentieth century, born as an old man and getting younger by the day. In a truly extraordinary musical that reminds us to make every second count, Benjamin Button is keen to find a place where he can belong. Will he find it? Only time and tide will tell.
The talented team behind the show
It started life as a ‘scrappy little show with a big heart’ according to the director Jethro Compton, but it has grown into a show worthy of a West End run. It’s produced by ATG Productions, Gary Beestone Associates, Gavin Kalin Productions, Eilene Davidson Productions, Umeda Arts Theater, and Jethro Compton Productions.
Experience the electrifying journey through the timeless tale of a love that defies all odds at the Ambassadors Theatre this Autumn. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a truly unordinary new musical that you'll love every second of.

Who knew ?Just spent a surprisingly highly entertaining evening. An imaginative take on the story told by the cast of musicians /actors that captures your attention from the start to the finish. My only small criticism is sometimes the words of the songs are hard to hear due to the enthusiastic playing of the music.

Moved to tearsIf you like folk music you will love this show. The actors all play 2 or 3 musical Instruments as well as many varied acting roles. They all excel in their parts. The story may be fantastical but its’ message is down to earth. Famiily is important, life rushes by and must be grasped! Only the over long ending disappoints. See this life affirming show.

PoeticDear Sir/Madam,You should put out the soundtrack of this excellent show, in my opinion it is much better than the score of the film of the same name staring Brad Pitt. Take care. Yours sincerely Luis Saraiva

A Show with both funny and sad partsI enjoyed the show on on the whole as full of energy and funny at times. But there were some major tragedies that I felt could have been worked more realistically into story line and maybe handled a bit. more sensitivel. Otherwise we'll worth a visit for it's originality!

Excellent theatreThis musical experience has been the best experience of musical theatre I have seen for a very long time. Everything about it was superb, it was everything I enjoy about musical theatre. The story is very strong , the acting, the music, the singing and instrument playing from everyone , harmonies. I love folk/sea shanties, I can only call it a wonderful folk opera. A very talented group of actors. I will be booking again very soon.

Somewhat Underwhelming Amateurish ProductionReally enjoyed the movie but regrettably this was "re-imagined". Found the story silly with him being born a fully grown old man (complete with clothes & bowler hat) straight from the womb. Found the constant singing & instrument playing by the actors gimmicky and grating. The constant counting down in days/hours/minutes/seconds of various events sounded like everyone was autistic or on the spectrum. Found the plot hard to follow at times (given some rapid fire songs described convoluted plot developments). Fixed stage with boxes being moved around to signify various settings. Felt cheap, like an amateur production & not lavish west end musical standard. Really hated it. Left during the interval. Would have left sooner but wasn't seated on the aisle.
