Shucked Tickets

Shucked is a 2022 musical with music and lyrics by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. The book is by Robert Horn. After a test run in Utah, this ultra-special Broadway production kicked off with previews at the Nederlander Theatre on March 8th this year. It attracted a total of nine Tony nominations, a clear sign this is a big hit in the making.

This fab new Broadway musical will transfer to London’s West End in March 2024. You’ll experience a totally fresh and new original musical comedy whose style has a lot in common with The Book of Mormon, Oklahoma, and The Music Man. Add a host of dazzling country music tunes and you’re in for a proper West End treat.

The opening date, venue and casting are all to be announced, but we do know one thing: the magic will take place at one of the West End producer Cameron Mackintosh’s theatres. As he said, “I’m delighted to confirm that London is going to get Shucked in one of my theatres next year! Shucked is that rarity: a completely original musical and the funniest show since The Book of Mormon, with a terrifically tuneful rollicking country and western score. It’s snuck up on Broadway and is proving to be the most talked about hit of the season. The corn at the heart of Shucked will have you husky with limitless laughter!”

Nominated for 9 Tony Awards including Best Musical, the show’s wonderful score comes from the Grammy Award-winning song writing team Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally. It’s directed by the Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien, who delighted us with Hairspray. Think corny, in the best possible way, and you’ve hit the button - it’s puntastic! No wonder the Wall Street Journal calls it ‘flat out hilarious.’

The choreography is by Sarah O’Gleby and the music supervision, music direction, orchestrations and arrangements are by Jason Howland. The design team includes Scott Pask on scenic design, Tilly Grimes on costume design, Japhy Weideman on lighting design and John Shivers on sound design. Mia Neal is responsible for wig design and Stephen Kopel, from C12 Casting, is the casting director.

What's the plot of Shucked?

This is the tale of an unlikely hero, a dodgy con man, and the battle for the heart of Cobb County, USA. When the local couple Maizy and Beau have to postpone their wedding because the corn crop starts to fail, Maizy takes the advice of her cousin Lulu, the local whiskey distiller, and goes off to find a way to save the corn. She reaches Tampa, Florida, where she meets Gordy Jackson, a con-man who says he’ll help - but he really just wants to get money to pay his debts.
