It will be the first time Shakespeare plays have been presented at the venue since Peter Brook’s production of The Tempest starring John Gielgud in 1957.
The Jamie Lloyd Company will present a season of Shakespeare at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from 7 December.
The season will begin with The Tempest which will star BAFTA winner Sigourney Weaver, who will make her West End debut as Propero in an enchanting story of revenge and forgiveness. Weaver will be awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 81st Venice International Film Festival.
The Tempest will run from 7 December - 1 February 2025.
Following on from that will be Much Ado About Nothing. The savagely funny and beautifully tender battle of wits will star Tom Hiddleston as Benedick and Hayley Atwell as Beatrice.
Much Ado About Nothing will run from 10 February - Saturday 5 April 2025.
The season of Shakespeare will follow the smash-hit musical Frozen which plays its final performance on 8 September 2024.
