Much Ado About Nothing - The Story

The plot of the Bard’s fast-paced rom-com goes like this. The idyllic Italian town of Messina is enjoying peace at last after a terrible war. Everything’s looking rosy. The young lovers Claudio and Hero and their friends, the argumentative singles Beatrice and Benedick, quickly become entangled a series of pranks, wind-ups and plots. The result is, as always, savagely funny but also tender, an entertaining battle of wits that has kept audiences coming back for more than 500 years.

Much Ado About Nothing Cast and Creatives

Tom Hiddleston returns to the stage after his acclaimed performances in Betrayal on Broadway and the West End. A Golden Globe, Tony, Olivier, and Evening Standard Award winner, Hiddleston is widely known for his role as Loki in the Marvel movies, as well as his work in War Horse, Kong: Skull Island, The Hollow Crown, and The Deep Blue Sea. On stage, his roles in Betrayal, Hamlet, Coriolanus, Othello, and Cymbeline have earned him multiple accolades, including an Olivier Award for Best Newcomer.

Hayley Atwell began her career on the BBC with The Line of Beauty in 2006, followed by a film role in How About You. She gained fame as British agent Peggy Carter in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), leading to roles in Agent Carter, Cinderella (2015), and the Black Mirror episode "Be Right Back." Atwell made her West End debut in 2009 with A View from the Bridge, earning an Olivier nomination, and has since appeared in productions like The Faith Machine, The Pride, Dry Powder, Measure for Measure, and Rosmersholm.

Expect loads of wit and banter, false confessions and confusions, gossip, rumour, overheard conversations, secrets and trickery, comedy, intrigue and action early next year in the West End.
