Breaking the barriers as the first play by a Black woman on Broadway, Lorraine Hansberry's classic drama centred on the Younger family is full of humour and heart. Audiences will be drawn in by its relevance and power in a world still divided by inequality.
The cast includes Doreene Blackstock (Sex Education)as Lena, Joséphine-Fransilja Brookman (High Times and Dirty Monsters) as Beneatha, Cash Holland (A Streetcar Named Desire) as Ruth, Solomon Israel (Jitney) as Walter Lee, Gilbert Kyem Jnr as George (The Milkmans Purpose), Kenneth Omole (Top Boy) as Joseph/Bobo and Jonah Russell (Arms and the Man) as Karl. The role of Travis will be performed by Jayden Dias, Josh Ndlovu and Adiel Magaji in Leeds and Oxford, and by Jeriah Kibusi and Oliver Dunkley in London and Nottingham.
A Raisin in the Sun will play at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from 8 October - 2 November 2024.
