Hadestown in London
Step into the enchanting world of Hadestown, back in London five years after its sold-out run at the National Theatre in 2018. Ancient mythology meets modern storytelling in this Tony Award-winning musical. Book your Hadestown tickets now for a theatrical experience that transports you to a realm where love, hope, and redemption collide in the heart of the West End.
Why you should see Hadestown
- The show received the most nominations at the 73rd Tony Awards and went on to win eight, including Best Musical and Best Original Score.
- Hadestown underwent a journey of twelve years of development, starting as a DIY project back in 2006.
- It's not just the show itself that has award-winning quality, the Original Broadway Cast Recording also won a Grammy Award.
What's the plot of Hadestown?
Hadestown reveals a fresh new version of the ancient Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Eurydice is a young girl who’s starving, desperate for food. She starts work in a hellish new version of the Greek underworld to get away from her poverty-stricken life. But the underworld isn’t what she expected, and when her equally poverty-stricken boyfriend Orpheus comes to rescue her, things get tricky. According to Forbes, this is ‘An epic celebration of music, togetherness and hope’. The New York Times calls it ‘Sumptuous. Gorgeous. As good as it gets.’ Not to be missed!

Bella Brown, Madeline Charlemagne, and Allie Daniel will play the Fates and Lauren Azania, Tiago Dhondt Bamberger, Beth Hinton-Lever, Waylon Jacobs, and Christopher Short will play the Workers, with Lucinda Buckley, Ryesha Higgs, Miriam Nyarko, and Simon Oskarsson as Swings.

Enjoyable romp, jazz fused musicalVibrant show with enthusiastic actors and but the score was un memorable bar three songs. may be being a bit harsh but once in Hades would have expected the score to turn menacing and a bit dark but maintained the pace and mood of the first act. Musicianship excellent.

Not sure about thisGreat music in first half, becomes very boring in second half and should finish 20 minutes earlier instead of the cast walking around the stage.

Excellent production, but Lyric needs a makeover…Great performances and fantastic staging, offset by Lyric’s underlying odour and a ventilation system so loud that it invades the quieter moments, often making the more subtle dialogue near impossible to hear

Interesting conceptThis is a high energy show, beautifully performed by the actors and dancers. The set is great and visually stunning. My criticism is that the story rambles at times and is difficult to hear the words as the balance between music and voice is wrong. I struggled to hear what Hermes was saying, despite her vibrant performance.

Unique musical theatre experienceHades town brought Greek myths bang up to date and into a New Orleans jazz cafe! The musicianship was phenomenal and the acting and performing were world class too. It totally draws you into the story with some incredible songs, great messages about modern society and brilliant use of stage management with the revolving stage and trapdoor. Funny, moving, thought-provoking and a must-see!
