AVEN celebrates paradise, a place deep inside us that has no boundaries. It generates happiness, pushing the audience’s limits to find it, sweeping you up and enveloping you with its unstoppable force. So say its creators, Fuerza Bruta Artistic Director Diqui James, and Gaby Kerpel who wrote the score and directs the music.

This show actually started life pre-covid. After the pandemic, when they returned to rehearsals, the team decided the world was quite dark enough, so they stripped out every hint of darkness and strife. The result is their happiest ever show.

The amazing story behind Fuerza Bruta

Fuerza Bruta was born in 2003 when the creative director Diqui James, composer Gaby Kerpel, technical director Alejandro García and general co-ordinator Fabio D´aquila, all ex-members of the theatre company De La Guarda, formed a new company.

In 2005 their first show, Look Up, premiered in Buenos Aires. A year later it hit the newly refurbished Roundhouse and proved a smash hit in London. It opened Off-Broadway at the Daryl Roth Theater in 2007 and stayed there until the end of summer 2016, an impressive 9 year run.

Since then the company has travelled the world, performing in Buenos Aires, Seoul, Cordoba, Bogota, Queretaro, Miami, Chicago, Lisbon, Bilbao, Berlin, Moscow, Shanghai, Edinburgh, Antwerp, Lima, Taipei, Macau, Madrid and many more, a production that appeals to people in every country.

A breathtaking production

Over the years there have been some star-studded performers involved, from R&B musician Usher in 2012 to Daniel ‘Cloud’ Campos, Eunhyuk from Super Junior, H.O.T member Jang Woo-hyuk and the first ever Filipino American Rockette and original North American cast member of De La Guarda, Rose Mallare.

The show is produced by the Roundhouse and Kindred Partners. And the word on the streets is that Marcus Davey, CEO and Artistic Director at Roundhouse, is delighted to have this breathtaking production back at the venue, the company’s beloved European home.
