Constellations in London
Welcome to Constellations, a beautiful love story that marks a unique collaboration between a host of brilliant talent. The Donmar Warehouse, Wessex Grove and Eleanor Lloyd Productions Eilene Davidson, Gavin Kalin Productions, Grand Cru Consulting Ltd, Rupert Gavin and Mallory Factor are all working in association with Nica Burns for Nimax to present Nick Payne's deliciously happy-sad romance.
This is a Royal Court Theatre Production and it is being directed to perfection by Michael Longhurst, complete with four new two-person casts. It also happens to have been a huge West End and Broadway hit. No wonder it's the lucky winner of the coveted Evening Standard Award for Best Play plus a desirable WhatsOnStage Award for Best Design. This play is quite simply delicious.
What's the plot of Constellations?
Quantum physics sits at the heart of this amazing production. In a strange world where a photon is both a particle and a wave, and it's impossible to know exactly which state it's in until you observe it, odd things are bound to happen.
When a quantum physicist and a beekeeper meet at a barbecue, they get on brilliantly. Or do they? Maybe not. Do they do home together afterwards or part and never meet again? Maybe they do both. This is the multiverse, a place where everything that can possibly happen, happens at exactly the same time. With every possible future ahead of them, the characters' mutual love of honey might be the only thing that holds them together.
Nick Payne's beautiful, heartbreaking romance is being revived in theatreland but with a twist. A total of four different casts take turns to explore the multiverse, delving deep into the infinite possibilities of one relationship, each time delivering the story fresh and new. Such a treat!
The play stars Sheila Atim and Ivanno Jeremiah from 18th June to 1st August, replaced by Peter Capaldi and Zoë Wanamaker from 23rd June to 24th July. Omari Douglas and Russell Tovey take to the stage from 30th July to 11th September, and finally Anna Maxwell Martin and Chris O'Dowd take their turn from 6th August to 12th September. Very cool, and totally entertaining!
Who is Constellations for?
This gorgeous play is recommended for people aged 10 or more.

i come up for what I thought was a west end show. It did not meet my expectations and would be better advertiser in a side studio. I was also short and I felt short changed

Review: CONSTELLATIONS at the Vaudeville Theatre
by Stuart King | Saturday, August 7 2021, 09:47
The intimate Vaudeville Theatre on London’s Strand, is currently playing host to Michael Longhurst’s superb revival of Nick Payne’s wonderfully touching 2012 play Constellations.
As the West End gently reawakens, after the devastating restrictions imposed by lockdown, there’s perhaps a greater need than ever before for subtle, life-affirming, human interaction stories — and this is among the very best.

If you fancy a sharp, sophisticated 90 minutes of theatre which I guarantee will make you feel cleverer afterwards I whole heartedly recommend Constellations, Nick Payne’s look at the twists and turns a relationship can take.
