The Play That Goes Wrong in London
The West End's longest-running comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong continues to make audiences laugh out loud night after night. This classic stage comedy by the Mischief Company is known and loved as one of the funniest, most madcap nights out in theatreland.
About The Play That Goes Wrong
We all know how the classic British whodunnit goes: there has been a murder at a country manor and a police inspector arrives to identify the culprit. But when this 1920s plot is given to the accident-prone thespians from the The Cornley Drama Society, everything that can go wrong… does!
The actors and crew battle against the odds to make it to the final curtain call, with hilarious consequences. Will we ever find out who murdered Charles Haversham? You'll have to see for yourself.
The Play That Goes Wrong is written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields from the Mischief Theatre Company. The original production has been running since 2012 in London, winning the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy. It has toured the UK five times so far and the Broadway production, which ran for two years between 2017 and 2019, is still playing on stage off-Broadway.
This is undoubtedly one of the most fun comedies the West End offers. No wonder this brilliantly funny play continues to see audiences laughing out loud night after night.

Unexpectedly phenomenal!This show is thoroughly thought through, exquisitely executed and completely captivating. The actors are exceptionally well cast and the organic integration of the audience is absolutely delightful. Hats off to the stage designers, writers, production crew and all behind the scene staff, who have to be on point to make this work safely. I haven’t been so entertained in years. So funny my sides hurtBrilliant show, it was so funny and well acted. Went with a group of friends for a birthday treat and we were not disappointed so much so have been recommending people go and see the show. Loved it and would happily go again. A fast paced farceThe pace and acting in this play are excellent . I grew up with Laurel and Hardy and this kind of slapstick humour and unfortunately have never really found it funny after the first half hour and I feel the same about this. However it was much appreciated by most of the audience!

The Play That Goes WrongI did laugh a lot & if going - make sure you are in your seat 15 mins before the start or you will miss very funny preamble...I think the director could have asked the actors to speed up some of the slap stick gags but the way the set contruction is set up to help it all fall apart is genius- I genuinely had my heart in my mouth for a few moments ....some great acrobatics added in for good measure.....for those who love slap stick- this is right up your street

Slapstick farceWe did not find this show funny at all as the humour was all physical, forced and entirely predictable. We were expecting a humourous take on amateur dramatics, but the play is merely a bad version of a whodunnit where the set slowly falls apart with the actors trying to put it back together whilst carrying on. Teenagers in the audience found it funny but don't go if you're expecting a sophisticated dialogue based obsevational commedy.
