The Enormous Crocodile in London
So who would like a juicy little child for their lunch? It’s The Enormous Crocodile, the star of a thrilling new musical designed to delight your little ones. Will the other animals in the jungle manage to stop the crocodile? Come along and see.
Why you should book The Enormous Crocodile tickets
- Armed with joyous music and breathtaking puppetry, the popular characters from Roald Dahl's book will come to life.
- Perfect for ages 4+, this is a brilliant option as the first stage production for your little ones to see.
- It comes from the man who wrote Matilda, the inspiration for one of the West End’s best-loved children’s musicals.
What is The Enormous Crocodile about?
The Enormous Crocodile is wandering around the jungle in search of tasty children’s fingers and delicious children’s knees. Yum! The only ones who can foil his wicked plans are the other jungle creatures, and they’re going to have to be very brave.
Welcome to the gorgeous new musical version of Roald Dahl's popular children’s story, a show packed with lovely tunes by the composer Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, who performs under the band name ‘Sinkane’.
The book is hilarious, as are the lyrics, both written by Suhayla El-Bushra (Arabian Nights, Royal Lyceum Edinburgh; The Long Song, Chichester Festival Theatre and Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge), and there’s additional music and lyrics by Tom Brady (The Butterfly Lion, Chichester Festival Theatre; Musical Supervisor & Arranger for Guys & Dolls, Bridge Theatre).
This is a Leeds Playhouse production Directed by Emily Lim (Brainstorm for Company Three / National Theatre; Pericles, National Theatre), featuring an exciting menagerie of mischievous puppets created by the co-director and puppetry designer Toby Olié (Spirited Away, Imperial Theatre Tokyo; Pinocchio, NT; 101 Dalmatians, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre).
The set and costume design is equally fantastic, created by Fly Davis (I Want My Hat Back, National Theatre; Ocean At The End of The Lane, National Theatre and West End), and of course the Roald Dahl Story Company sits at the show’s heart.
More theatreland magic from the pen of Roald Dahl
Roald Dahl wrote hugely popular children's literature and short stories, also a poet, screenwriter and wartime fighter pilot. His books have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and he’s been called one of the greatest storytellers for children of the 20th century. He also wrote Matilda, which inspired Matilda The Musical, a massive West End hit.
Brilliant open air theatre magic for the kids
Head for the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre to enjoy the fun with your children. They’ll adore the colour, the cheerful songs, the amazing animals and the cool story, which is full to the brim with quirky Roald Dahl magic.
The venue dates back to 1932, a multi-award winning 1304 seat theatre in lush green surroundings. It’s an independent charity that relies on the public’s support and enthusiasm for great storytelling, nurturing future creative talent, and enjoying the power and magic of storytelling under a shared sky.
