The Enormous Crocodile in London
So who would like a juicy little child for lunch? It’s The Enormous Crocodile, the star of a thrilling musical designed to delight your little ones. Will the other animals in the jungle manage to stop the crocodile? Come along and see.
The Enormous Crocodile the story
The Enormous Crocodile is wandering around the jungle in search of tasty children’s fingers and delicious children’s knees. Yum! The only ones who can foil his wicked plans are the other jungle creatures, and they’re going to have to be very brave. Armed with joyous music and breathtaking puppetry, the popular characters from Roald Dahl's book come to life. Perfect for ages 4+, this is a brilliant option as the first stage production for your little ones to see.
About The Enormous Crocodile
Roald Dahl (Matilda) wrote hugely popular children's literature and short stories, also a poet, screenwriter and wartime fighter pilot. His books have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide and he’s been called one of the greatest children's storytellers of the 20th century.
Head for the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre to enjoy the fun with your little ones. They’ll adore the colour, the cheerful songs, the amazing animals and the cool story, full to the brim with quirky Roald Dahl magic. The production originally ran at the Leeds Playhouse for their Christmas production in 2023 before transferring to the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre for the summer in 2024.
The Enormous Crocodile cast and creatives
The show is packed with lovely tunes by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab (Arabian Nights, The Long Song, Channel 4’s Ackley Bridge) with book and lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra. Additional music and lyrics are by Tom Brady (The Butterfly Lion, Musical Supervisor & Arranger for Guys & Dolls at the Bridge Theatre). This is a Leeds Playhouse production Directed by Emily Lim (Brainstorm for Company Three, Pericles), featuring an exciting menagerie of mischievous puppets created by the co-director and puppetry designer Toby Olié (Spirited Away, Pinocchio, 101 Dalmatians). The set and costume design is equally fantastic, created by Fly Davis (I Want My Hat Back, Ocean At The End of The Lane). The puppetry is co-designed and supervised by Daisy Beattie, and of course the Roald Dahl Story Company sits at the show’s heart.
Embark on a thrilling adventure with Roald Dahl's beloved tale at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre this summer. The Enormous Crocodile is brought to life with jaw dropping puppetry in an enchanting outdoor setting, perfect for families and fans of Dahl's storytelling.
