Tell Me On A Sunday in London
Tell Me On a Sunday – Poignant and vibrant.
A huge hit in the late 1970s and early 1980s, this show spawned a massive hit album as well as at least one chart topping single that Brits went around singing for months. It’s a cracking tale of how one ordinary girl from Muswell Hill finds herself travelling through New York and Hollywood in search of love, adventure and success… only to find that perhaps there’s no need to go so far to get what you want.
Tell Me On a Sunday - The story
Emma arrives in New York city determined not to become a cynical career woman or someone who uses men. But when she finds out her lover has been cheating on her, she walks out.
Thus begins a whirlwind journey where Emma meets all sorts of unsuitable men including the Hollywood producer Sheldon Bloom, who takes her to Los Angeles as his trophy girlfriend. When it’s over she returns, a little older and wiser, to Manhattan’s Greenwich Village where she meets a salesman, who also lets her down through his lies and chronic unfaithfulness.
Next Emma meets a married man. Determined to succeed in her career and get a Green Card so she can work legally in The States, she has an affair with him. But as soon as he decides he wants to leave his wife for her, she realises she doesn’t love him… and understands she has been using him. Ashamed, she rejects him and decides to find her old, idealistic self again, the girl who felt honour, honesty and true love would conquer all.
Song list
The song list has changed over the decades, with new tunes added as the show has developed. Expect classics like Let Me Finish, It's Not the End of the World (If It's Over), You Made Me Think You Were in Love, Unexpected Song, The Last Man in My Life, Ready Made Life and of course the smash chart hits Take That Look off Your Face and Tell Me on a Sunday.

Loved the show just as much as when I saw it as 'Song & Dance'.However, I think it should have been linked with something else as it was top prices for one hours entertainment.

Tell Me On a TuesdaySaw the show on opening night so the atmosphere was great. Marti Webb and the musicians who accompanied her were great. We both wished it had been a little longer or that Marti had maybe sung more than one encore, something from evita perhaps although I thought that additional music had been written for Tell Me on a Sunday. The theatre was a good choice for this show, small and intimate. We were 3 rows back; good view and didn't have to crane our neck back to see! Comfortable leg room.
