Shrek The Musical in London

Shrek The Musical is heading to London for a limited season next summer on the tail end of its hugely successful UK Tour. The stage adaptation of the popular 2001 Dreamworks animated movie promises to delight audiences of all ages at the Eventim Apollo.

Shrek the Musical tickets – A delight for every age

Shrek the Musical thrills audiences wherever it lands. Produced by Mark Goucher, Matthew Gale and Gavin Kalin, the award-winning Broadway and West End hit show has been reimagined whilst still retaining a lot of the fun that came from the film.

See Anthony Lawrence and Joanna Clifton in Shrek the Musical

Antony Lawrence plays Shrek, Joanne Clifton plays Princess Fiona, James Gillan as Lord Farquaad, Brandon Lee Sears is Donkey, and Cherece Richards is the Dragon.

Theatre legend Antony Lawrence’s huge, powerful voice is exactly what’s needed for the role. What a treat. He also delighted us in The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Matilda the Musical, and We Will Rock You.

The Strictly Come Dancing star and leading lady Joanne Clifton is amazing as Princess Fiona, a talent who has raised the rafters with a role in The Addams Family. Then there’s the Olivier nominated James Gillan, who plays a convincing villain in the shape of Lord Farquaad. He has previously worked on Starlight Express, the Royal Festival Hall's Peter Pan, Taboo, Tommy, and Wicked.

Brandon Lee Sears’ dazzling performance does the part of the loveable Donkey proud, with previous hit roles in Dreamgirls, Come From Away, and Motown.

All about Shrek the Musical – The fun starts here

Get ready to leave your troubles behind. This is an adventure and a half, and it’s full of BIG fun. You’ll meet Shrek and his friend Donkey, who take on a quest to defeat the fearsome Dragon and rescue the beautiful Princess Fiona.

The plot is always heart-warming, always unforgettable, and the music will keep your toes tapping. If you’ve already heard "I'm A Believer", "Big Bright Beautiful World" and "I Know It's Today", you’ll be thrilled to bits. If you haven’t heard the show tunes before, you’ll be just as thrilled.

Expect a gorgeous night out for the whole family, and an award-winning show whose sets and costumes are just as magical as the music and the story.

Too sexualized for a kids’ show

Really boring and draws on and on, lots of unnecessary backstories and segways, but more than anything I didn’t find a lot of it at all child appropriate and there were several innuendos and some strip-club type dancing. Was not comfortable with my young daughter there at all.

Cute, fun show

Enjoyed the show, it was a fun adaption of the film. Casting was great, the dragon was sensational (her voice is so good). Everyone was great fun to watch. Spotlight in the castle scene took away from the screen projection. Lord F and the dragon encounter lost its magic when viewing from the circle (given you could see Lord F jumping off the platform and squatting behind). Understandably there’s changes with every production, I was excited to see Lord F performance on his knees with theatrical legs, still was fun but definitely a huge comical element lost for older fans and children. Alas I am merely an average theatre goer with a ticket! Go see it for yourself.

Too high expectations..

After having seen the original 2013 show from Broadway, this new production just doesn't stand it. We just can't understand how it can be on West end..it seemed like an amateur show. Lord Farquad not an half-ling? Shrek didn't react to anything! Some songs were cut. And all the behind was made with projections!!!! I mean, I can understand you didn't get enough money..but just don't do the show if it has to be like this. I really would love my money back. Thank god for the ensemble and for Fiona.

This was a Christmas present for my elderly parents but due to bad weather conditions and the fact they were unable to get out of their drive they were unable to watch it. I tried to change the date of the performance but was unable to do so.. I think on this occasion the tickets could have been transferred to another date as it was not my parents fault they were unable to travel. This experience has made me doubt whether I will use this service again. Our cinema gladly gave us a refund on our tickets for Friday because of the weather !!!
