SCISSORHANDZ: A Musical Reinvented in London

Haunting and hilarious, stunning and inventive, Scissorhandz: A Musical Reinvented breathes new life into Tim Burton's brilliant 1990 movie. The fun is produced by the iconic Michelle Visage and NSYNC’s Lance Bass, and you'll want to leave your inhibitions where they belong... at the door!

Perfect for every hero-weirdo, the show offers a thrilling selection of pop hits from the nineties to the noughties, including Taylor Swift, Alanis Morissette, Lady Gaga and loads more. Perfect entertainment for the gals, the guys, the gays, the theys, and absolutely everyone in between.

Scissorhandz the story

Scissorhandz is a gorgeous pop-musical parody of an extravaganza designed to celebrate difference. It's inspired by the movie, a hugely popular American gothic romantic fantasy produced by Tim Burton and Denise Di Novi, written by Caroline Thompson and inspired by a story written by the pair. It starred Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder, and is still loved by dedicated weirdos the world over.

Talented cast belting out old school bangers!

I wasn't sure what to expect but I really enjoyed the show. Candida Mosoma covered the role of Peg and was fantastic. I would never have guessed that they were an understudy. A simple set but a clever use of props were used to effectively tell the story. There was humour and the cast were all very strong vocally. I loved the song choices, brought back memories.

90s goth classic retold with a great soundtrack

So pleased to have come across this fantastic jukebox musical and this venue, due to its size it felt like you were really part of the show and the actors often ventured in between the audience. The setting, props and lightning were cleverly done, but didn't overwhelm the performances. I loved the soundtrack which was comprised of songs from the last 30 years (opening with the Smashing Pumpkins 'Tonight' to the get-off-your-seats closing number of 'Shake it off' by Florence and the Machine), the quality of the singing was amazing, leaving me spell-bound throughout. There are quite a few sexual innuendos (including a Harry and Sally type scene) and colourful language throughout, so I wouldn't recommend it for a younger audiences. (It does state 12+ as an age recommendation.)
