Romeo & Juliet in London

Starring:

Tom Holland

Tom Holland's West End show Romeo & Juliet sold out when more than sixty thousand fans bought all the tickets in just two hours. Holland plays the romantic lead role of Romeo Montague in Jamie Lloyd’s ‘pulsating’ new vision of the Bard’s classic play.

Why you should keep your eyes open for a Romeo and Juliet extension

  • Global superstar Tom Holland will return to the West End stage for the first time since he starred in Billy Elliot.
  • A fresh new vision of Shakespeare's immortal tale of love and violence from the award-winning director Jamie Lloyd.

Meet the legendary Jamie Lloyd and Tom Holland

Known for his work on Sunset Boulevard, The Seagull and Cyrano de Bergarc; Jamie Lloyd directs this production. In his opinion, Tom Holland is one of the greatest, most exciting young actors in the world and the perfect person for this role.

Holland has won a BAFTA and three Saturn Awards. As well as six smash hit Spider Man movies his roles include 2022’s Uncharted, 2020’s The Devil All the Time, and 2021’s Cherry. He also directs, and has voiced roles in the computer animated Spies in Disguise from 2019 and Onward in 2020. The rest of the cast will be announced nearer the time.

A tragic plot loved by audiences since the 1590s

The plot is just as famous as Holland and Lloyd. Everyone’s fed up with the wealthy warring families the Montagues and Capulets. The Prince of Verona decides that the next family member to break the peace will be executed. Romeo Montague and his friends gatecrash a Capulet party, where he meets Juliet and falls in love. They’re supposed to be enemies but they marry anyway.

Romeo celebrates his marriage with his friends but gets in a fight with Juliet's cousin, Tybalt. Tybalt kills Mercutio and Romeo avenges him by killing Tybalt. Romeo is banished and he and Juliet are separated. Juliet's dad wants her to marry Paris but she refuses. She fakes her death as part of a cunning plan to stay with Romeo but Romeo thinks it’s real and kills himself. Then Juliet also commits suicide.

A creative team to reckon with

The creative team involves text editing by Nima Taleghani, Set and Costume Design from Soutra Gilmour and Lighting Design by Jon Clark. The Sound Designers are Ben and Max Ringham and the Video Design and Cinematography are by Nathan Amzi and Joe Ransom.

The Composer is Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante, the Casting Director Stuart Burt CDG, and Movement Direction comes from Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui. The intimacy Coordinator is Ingrid Mackinnon and the Associate Director is Jonathan Glew. Last but not least the Associate Designer is Rachel Wingate.

There is a huge demand for this production of Romeo and Juliet, set to make a bang in the West End. With a global superstar and an award-winning director collaborating in this bold version of Shakespeare's tale - you'll want to keep your eye out on any tickets which become available.

Decency of projecting Romeo and Juliet

The venue is really quite lovely. Atmosphere modern, motivational to the spirit of momentum in comfortable story enjoyment.
