Retrograde in London
Starring:
Ivanno Jeremiah, Oliver Johnstone, Stanley Townsend
If you're looking to experience some 'must-see theatre' (The Telegraph) look no further than the much-anticipated transfer of Retrograde. Ryan Calais Cameron delivers a gripping play that explores race, power, and identity in Hollywood during the 1950s. Only in the West End for a limited time this Spring, this play is another slice of genius from the writer behind For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy.
Retrograde - The Story
An insight into the harsh realities of Hollywood in the 1950s, Retrograde follows a young Black actor who is on the verge of his big career break. Based on a true event in the life of legendary actor Sidney Poitier, we discover what happens when he is faced with a life-changing decision that could shape the future of his career and risk his integrity.
About Retrograde
Written by Ryan Calais Cameron, Retrograde makes its West End debut following a critically acclaimed sold-out run at the Kiln Theatre. It's the second piece of work to be transferred after the immense success of For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Heavy obtained two sold-out runs at the Apollo and Garrick Theatre.
Retrograde Cast and Creatives
The cast for the West End run of Retrograde includes Ivanno Jeremiah as Sidney Poitier, Stanley Townsend as Mr Parks and Oliver Johnstone as Bobby. Retrograde is written by Ryan Calais Cameron and directed by Amit Sharma. The production includes set and costume design by Frankie Bradshaw, lighting design by Amy Mae, sound design by Beth Duke and casting director Juliet Horsley.
An explosive new play which explores identity, resilience, and integrity; Retrograde is easily becoming one of the most talked about plays in the West End right now and with its run so limited - you won't want to miss your chance to experience this one for yourself!
