Oedipus (Old Vic) Tickets

This is The Old Vic’s version of the classic Sophocles drama Oedipus, a new adaptation by Ella Hickson. It’s coming to the West End in January 2025 with the brilliant Rami Malek and Indira Varma in the starring roles. Your venue is the Old Vic, and it is an Old Vic production in association with Hofesh Shechter Company. The dates for the show are January 21st to March 29th 2025.

Oedipus at the Old Vic - The Story

It’s an old, cold case. But the Oracle says that when the murderer of old King Laius is discovered and punished for the crime, all will be well. The new king is Oedipus, who solved the puzzle of the Sphinx, and it’s his job to find the perp and save the city. Promising to reveal the truth, Oedipus begins his pursuit of reality, finding himself lost in a terrifying landscape of fear and love.

The amazing Academy Award winner Rami Malek, who thrilled us with Bohemian Rhapsody, and No Time To Die, joins the Olivier Award-winning Indira Varma of Present Laughter, and Game of Thrones fame in Ella Hickson’s ‘intimate and revelatory’ version of Sophocles’ extraordinary tragedy. Malek plays Oedipus, Varma plays Jocasta, and this is Malek’s UK stage debut.

The play is co-directed by Matthew Warchus who gave us Pride and Matilda the Musical, and Hofesh Shechter.

This is the world premiere of Ella Hickson’s production. This production joins another version of Oedipus at Wyndham’s Theatre in the West End. Both are predicted to be irresistible.
