The cast and creative team have been announced for With Courage ahead of its run later this month at The Other Palace.
Directed by the Olivier Award-winning director and dramaturg Charlotte Westenra (The Wicker Husband) and presented by Steph Weller for PlayWell Productions, With Courage brings together lifesaving stories from across two centuries. The new British musical has been developed using research and interviews with RNLI volunteers and crew.
Two narratives bring together the show. There's Charles and Marion Macara who rally a town in grief following a tragedy in 1886. Then there's Shannon in the present day, a navigator who is grappling with her family's legacy of life-saving.
The cast for the musical are Hannah Azuonye (Girl From The North Country, West End) as Marion Macara / Alex, Lara Lewis (Brief Encounter, Theatre by the Lake/Stephen Joseph Theatre) as Shannon / Annabelle, Gerard McDermott (Much Ado About Nothing, Sheffield Crucible) as Eddie / Captain, Tom Moores (The Trial of Josie K, The Unicorn Theatre) as Charles Macara / Jack Ross and Olivia Thompson (Whose Life Is It Anyway?, West End) as Mrs Johnson / Liz Ross.
The production team includes musical direction by Mary Erskine, choreography by Jane McMurtrie, design by Anna Kelsey, lighting design by Sam Bernstein, and sound design by Joe Dines. They are joined by associate director Alasdair Buchan, associate music director Rob Gathercole, production manager Harry Armytage, and stage manager Jamie Kubisch-Wiles. Additional support in the show comes from Lara Aabbar and associate production by Lexi Clare and Elizabeth Peace.
With Courage will run at The Other Palace from 17 - 22 September 2024.
