English National Opera will present the much-loved production of THE BARBER OF SEVILLE for 7 performances from 12 February - 29 February 2024 at the London Coliseum.
What is THE BARBER OF SEVILLE about?
Set in eighteenth century Seville, THE BARBER OF SEVILLE is a humorous opera about the dashing Count Almaviva's attempt to win the beautiful Rosina from the clutches of her guardian Dr Bartolo. He enlists the help of his barber Figaro and a series of cunning disguises along the way.
Rossini's opera is a comic masterpiece that features memorable melodies and unites the theatrical worlds of Italian commedia dell'arte and Whitehall farce.

Originally directed by Jonathan Miller, Peter Relton returns to lead the revival of this production as Revival Director.
British baritone Charles Rice returns to ENO as the titular Barber, Figaro. Irish soprano Anna Devin will make her ENO and role debut as Rosina. Rosina’s love interest, Count Almaviva, will be performed by Harewood Artist and South African tenor Innocent Masuku who makes a welcome return to the London Coliseum stage. Playing the antagonist role of Dr Bartolo is British bass-baritone Simon Bailey who returns to the ENO. Lesley Garrett, the British soprano and seasoned ENO singer will play the role of Berta.
Completing the cast is Patrick Alexander Keefe and Patrick Dow.
Tanya McCallin is the Set and Costume Designer, Tom Mannings is the Original Lighting Designer, Marc Rosette is the Revival Lighting Designer, translation is by Amanda Holden and Anthony Holden.
