Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga are coming to the West End to star in a revival of STEPHEN SONDHEIM'S OLD FRIENDS at the Gielgud Theatre.
Announced at last night's WhatsOnStage Awards, the show will run for a limited time of 16 weeks between 16 September 2023 - 6 January 2024.
Following their WhatsOnStage Award win for Best Concert Event, Cameron Mackintosh announced that Old Friends will return to the West End, following last year's successful gala performance which celebrated the life and work of Stephen Sondheim.

Joining Bernadette Peters (who is making her West End debut in a full production) and Lea Salonga (who hasn't performed in the West End for 27 years) are many of the cast who also performed at last May's gala. The currently confirmed cast are:

Directed by Matthew Bourne, alongside Julia McKenzie, with choreography by Stephen Mear, conducted by Alfonso Casado Trigo, musical supervision is by Stephen Brooker, musical arrangements by Stephen Metcalfe, Matt Kinley, projection design by George Reeve, lighting design by Warren Letton and sound design by Mick Potter.
Speaking about the news, Cameron Mackintosh said, "Steve was always a Broadway Baby at heart, so I'm delighted that I have been able to put together one last great hurrah for my old friend, containing many of the greatest songs ever written for the musical theatre, in one 'great big Broadway show' - just as he wanted.
Old Friends opens at the Gielgud Theatre on 16 September, and will run for 16 weeks only. Tickets go on general on-sale on 27 February.
