A Slumdog Millionaire The Musical is in development.
The story follows Jamal Malik and his brother, two young boys who are from the slums of Mumbai. Whilst his brother is drawn into a life of crime, Jamal takes up the opportunity to compete on the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? Intertwined into this rise on the game show are flashbacks which reveal how his life experiences provided him with the answers. Celebrated for its compelling storytelling, vibrant cinematography, and stirring original music by A.R. Rahman, the film won eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
Now Broadway Producer Ken Davenport announces he is developing it into a musical after securing the rights. The musical will feature songs from the smash-hit movie, including "Jai Ho" by the Pussycat Dolls.
Details about the world premiere production, including casting and creative teams, will be announced soon.
