Shakespeare's Globe announces its Summer Season.
With a spectacular range of productions on offer, enjoy a number of Shakespeare productions, returning creatives a brand-new play between April and October 2024.
The season opens on the 25 April with MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING which will be directed by Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes (The Comedy of Errors, Globe). The dark comedy will star Ekow Quartey and Amalia as Benedick and Beatrice in an Elizabeth-dress production that will transform the Globe Theatre into a luxurious paradise.
Next up comes RICHARD III from 9 May until 3 August. Artistic Director Michelle Terry will once again team up with director Elle While (A Midsummer Night's Dream, 2023) to take on the eponymous anti-hero as they explore the enduring allure and charisma of evil.
Other highlights in the programme include Jude Christian's Globe Theatre debut as she directs a production of THE TAMING OF THE SHREW from 6 June. People can enjoy productions of ANTONY & CLEOPATRA and THE COMEDY OF ERRORS across August.
Those looking out for a new play, PRINCESS ESSEX is one to watch out for. Written and starring Anne Odeke, this is an empowering comedy based on the incredible true story of Princess Dinbolu, the first woman of colour to enter a beauty pageant in the UK.
Shakespeare Globe's Summer Season announcement concludes with ROUGH MAGIC. This is a supernaturally silly adventure that features the Weird Sisters of Macbeth.
