Good Night, Oscar will play at the Barbican Theatre for a seven-week season from 31 July 2025.
Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Doug Wright's new play centres on a captivating night back in 1958 when quick-witted pianist and entertainer Oscar Levant appears on live television, blurring the line between genius and madness. The play explores Levant's sharp humour, musical brilliance, and struggles with mental illness, offering a poignant look at fame and vulnerability.
Sean Hayes, best known for his role on Will & Grace, shared his excitement about the production, stating, “It’s thrilling to be making my West End debut at the Barbican this summer with Good Night, Oscar. I’m eager to introduce one of the all-time greats, Oscar Levant, to the UK. The response we received on Broadway was incredible and I’m hoping British audiences will appreciate the history of this fascinating man - a multi-faceted pioneer, from concert pianist to infamous raconteur. It’s an honour to bring this production to London".
Good Night, Oscar will be directed by Lisa Peterson with further casting to be announced soon.
