The play, written by Guleraana Mir and afshan d’souza-lodhi, will have a London run following its National tour which kicks off next month.
Aiyana Bartlett and Farah Ashraf headshots.
Santi and Naz will play a limited run at the Soho Theatre early next year.
Directed by Madelaine Moore, the cast includes Aiyana Bartlett (Testmatch, Orange Tree Theatre) as Santi and Farah Ashraf (Pink Rabbit, Theatre 503) as Naz.
Santi and Naz follows two young women - one Sikh, one Muslim - as they stand fast against the circumstances that would separate them. Set two years before the partition of India in 1945, the play shows how social unrest spreads and how families and communities will be torn apart. Santi & Naz contributes to a conversation about postcolonial legacy whilst giving a fresh perspective on female friendship, coming of age and coming out.
The creative team includes Producer TheThelmas, General Manager Courtenay Johnson, Associate Director Vikesh Godhwani, Designer Sascha Gilmour, Movement Director Rakhee Sharma, Composer and Sound Designer Tom Penn, Lighting Designer Laura Howard and Technical Stage Manager Brent Tan.
Santi and Naz will play at the Soho Theatre from 21 January - 8 February 2025.
