What is LES MISÉRABLES about?
Based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Cameron Mackintosh's production of LES MISÉRABLES continues to delight audiences at the Sondheim Theatre. Written by Alan Boubil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, several of its songs have become real-life anthems of revolution across the world.
At the helm of this story is Jean Valjean, an ex-convict in 19th-century France. LES MISÉRABLES spans a story of many years as he seeks redemption despite being hunted by his rival and ex-guard Jarvert when he breaks parole. Over the years he becomes a father to Cosette, the daughter of Fantine, a tragic factory worker. They end up in Paris during the French Revolution where social and political struggle is rife. However, there is love and courage that can still find in these uncertain times.
LES MISÉRABLES continues to break records across the world.
