2025 is set to shine with an extraordinary lineup of new musicals on offer to loyal and casual theatregoers heading to London. From Disney’s Hercules, a larger-than-life retelling of the classic tale with epic songs and heroic adventure, to Sing Street, a nostalgic dive into 1980s Dublin with a heartwarming story and electrifying 80s-inspired soundtrack, there’s something for everyone. We share our top 5 musicals to look out for in during 2025:
1. Clueless The Musical

Based on the iconic 1995 film and Jane Austen’s Emma, Clueless The Musical will open in the West End in February, following a successful premiere at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley in early 2024. Featuring songs by KT Tunstall and lyrics by Glenn Slater, this new musical promises a modern and vibrant take on high school life.

2. The Great Gatsby

The Broadway sensation transforms F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel into a dazzling musical that embodies the extravagance and emotion of the Roaring 1920s. Featuring a jazz and pop-infused score alongside captivating choreography, the production promises an unforgettable spectacle. The Great Gatsby explores themes of love, ambition, and the pursuit of the elusive American Dream, delighting audiences with its timeless story and vibrant energy.

3. Disney’s Hercules

Heading to the West End during the summer months is the stage adaptation of Disney’s beloved animated classic, Hercules. It follows the journey of Hercules, a demigod with extraordinary strength as he seeks to prove himself a true hero and reclaim his place among the Gods on Mount Olympus. The new musical will feature unforgettable songs from the movie too!

4. Just For One Day

Celebrating the legacy of one of the biggest music events in history, Just For One Day weaves iconic songs into a powerful narrative focused on the Live Aid concert. Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the concert in 2025, Just For One Day has this magical way of capturing the spirit of unity, hope, and the transformative power of music.

5. Sing Street

Heading to the Hammersmith Lyric Theatre in 2025 is Sing Street. The musical is set in 1980s Dublin and follows teenager Conor as he navigates family troubles and school challenges. Containing an irresistible 80s-inspired soundtrack and a heartfelt coming-of-age-story, Conor will try to impress a girl by casting her in a music video for a band he hasn’t formed yet. If you’re a fan of 80s music and feel-good theatre, you’ll love this one!

6. Evita

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic musical Evita is set to return to London in the summer of 2025. The production tells the compelling story of Eva Perón, the wife of Argentine President Juan Perón, charting her journey from humble beginnings to becoming a beloved yet controversial political figure in Argentina. Featuring unforgettable songs like "Don't Cry For Me Argentina," this revival, directed by Jamie Lloyd, promises to be a captivating theatrical experience.
