What is Miss Julie about?
Written by August Strindberg, Miss Julie is a naturalistic play set on Midsummer's Eve in Sweden. The story revolves around the titular character, Miss Julie, the daughter of a count, who becomes entangled in a complex and ultimately destructive relationship with her father's valet, Jean. As the night progresses, their power struggle, fueled by desire, class conflict, and societal expectations, leads to a tragic end, highlighting themes of gender, class, and psychological power dynamics.
