Kerry Ellis takes over from Nicole Scherzinger in Cats tonight!

Cats After winning over both audience and critics throughout the Christmas season, Pussy Cat Doll and international superstar Nicole Scherzinger has belted out her last rendition of Memory in the amazing revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats. However, Scherzinger’s replacement is none other than West End leading lady, Kerry Ellis, and this musical theatre legend takes to the stage of the London Palladium tonight!

Kerry Ellis is best known for her role as Elphaba in Wicked, which she has since played on Broadway as well as originating the role in the West End. But Ellis has also led the casts of Les Miserables, Oliver! and We Will Rock You.

The original production of Cats opened in 1981 and ran in the West End for an astonishing 21 years. This current revival has reunited the shows creators, director Trevor Nunn, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and choreographer Gillian Lynne. Cats once held the record as London's longest running musical, but was usurped in 2006 by Les Miserables.

Cats is based on T.S Elliot’s 1939 book of poems Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats and tells the story of a group of magical Jellicle Cats, that once a year, choose one of their number to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn to a new life.

Cats is currently booking at the London Palladium until 25 April 2015. However, there is a unusual break in the run, with no performances scheduled between 2 and 17 March 2015.
