IN CLAY, a new musical, will take to the main stage of The Other Palace after a five-star sellout run at VAULT Festival 2023. During its time at the festival, it was nominated for Show of the Week, and an Offies OffFest award. IN CLAY has also been shortlisted for the MTI Stiles & Drewe Mentorship Award.
The trio of Danielle Steers (The Cher Show, SIX), Alex Young (Standing at the Sky's Edge) and Roshani Abbey (Hamilton) will share the role of Marie-Berthe Cazin in a unique concert performance for one night only.
What is IN CLAY: IN CONCERT about?
Combining jazz manouche with contemporary musical theatre, IN CLAY is a one-woman musical.
Based on a true story, this “poignant reflection on ambition, regrets & self-fulfillment” (Fringebiscuit) is told from a quaint Parisian kitchen in the late 1930s. Marie-Berthe Cazin, a ceramist in her early 40s, eagerly awaits the arrival of her closest childhood friend and now celebrated artist, Henrietta Tirman. As Marie prepares for the evening ahead, she reflects on the great joys and sorrows of a life devoted to making art.
