Chichester Festival Theatre’s five-star revival of the musical Gypsy has announced the full cast due to join the previously announced Imelda Staunton on stage, when the production transfers to the West End in April 2015.
Jonathan Kent’s critically acclaimed production of Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim’s iconic musical will see Imelda Staunton reprise her role as Momma Rose. She is joined once again by Gemma Sutton taking on the role of June, and Laura Pulver, making her West End debut as Louise. The cast also includes Jack Chissick (Mr Goldstone), Harry Dickman (Pop), Peter Davison (Herbie), Billy Hartman (Uncle Jocko), Danielle Morris (Geraldine), Tom Hodgkins (Me Weber), Dan Burton (Tulsa), Luke Street (Little Rock), Damien Poole (Kansas), Natalie Wood (Agnes) Anita Louise Combe (Tessie Tura), Roger Dipper (LA), Lucinda Shaw (Mother), Lauren Hall (Delores), Louise Gold (Mazeppa), Kieran Jae (Yonkers), Julie Legrand (Electra) and Clare Halse (Majorie May).
When the production transfers to the Savoy Theatre and opens on the 15 April, with previews from 28 March, it will be just over 40 years since Gypsy was first seen in London’s West End, about time for another generation to experience it!
Directed by Jonathan Kent, the man who helmed the multi-award winning production of Sweeney Todd that stared Imelda Staunton, Gypsy is designed by Anthony Ward, choreographed by Stephen Mear, with lighting design by Mark Henderson and sound by Paul Groothuis.
