Pantomime legend Gary Wilmot is joining the cast of THE WIZARD OF OZ this summer!
Running at the London Palladium from 23 June, Wilmot will be playing the title role of The Wizard.
Wilmot is joining the previously announced cast of Jason Manford as the Cowardly Lion and Ashley Banjo as the Tin Man. Further casting is to be announced.
No stranger to the stage, Wilmot is a theatrical legend. He's not only appeared in the last six pantos at the Palladium, but has also played the Wizard in Wicked, Jethro in Prince of Egypt and Badger in The Wind in the Willows. He's also previously hosted the Olivier Awards and appeared in several TV shows.
Featuring the iconic original score from the Oscar-winning MGM film, including Over The Rainbow and Follow The Yellow Brick Road, The Wizard of Oz also includes additional songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
Directed by Nikolai Foster (Billy Elliot The Musical) The Wizard of Oz has choreography by Shay Barclay, set design by Colin Richmond, projection design by Douglas O’Connell . The costume and puppet designer is Rachael Canning, lighting designer is Ben Cracknell, sound designer is Adam Fisher, creative consultant is Mark Kaufman, musical director and supervisor is George Dyer, casting director is Kay Magson, props supervisor is Marcus Hall Props and wigs, hair and makeup designer is Elizabeth Marini.
