Translated by award winning poet Anne Carson, Elektra is heading to the West End for a strictly limited 11-week season.
Helmed by the acclaimed director Daniel Fish (Oklahoma), this is the first time in over a decade that Sophokles' Greek tragedy will be revived.
Elektra by Sophocles tells the story of Electra, who seeks revenge on her mother, Clytemnestra, and her lover, Aegisthus, for the murder of her father, Agamemnon. With the return of her brother, Orestes, they conspire to avenge their father's death by killing the murderers.
Joining Daniel on the creative team is choreographer Annie-B Parson, set designer Jeremy Herbert, costume designer Doey Lüthi, lighting designer Adam Silverman, sound designer Max & Ben Ringham, composed by Ted Hearne, voice and dialect coach Kate Godfrey completed with casting by Heather Basten CDG.
Elektra will run at the Duke of York's Theatre from Friday 24 January 2025.
