Based on the critically acclaimed novel by Sathnam Sanghera, the story is set against the backdrop of a changing 20th century. Marriage Material centres on the Bains' corner shop in Wolverhampton. It's been in their family for three generations, and Mrs Bains is balancing the business, caring for her ailing husband and the demands of her two daughters, who each have a different kind of future they're heading towards.

Fast forward to the present day, a family tragedy pulls Arjan Bains back from a life in London. Audiences will experience a deeply relatable story of love, secrets, and the ties that bind us.

Marriage Material will play at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre from 22 May - 21 June 2025.
