What's the show about?
11-year-old Billy Elliot lives with his Dad, Brother and Gran in a mining town in the north of England. It's the 1980s, Maggie Thatcher's in power, and times are tough.
But Billy has a talent that could free him from his life of struggle and take him all the way to the top. To realise his dream he'll have to overcome financial hardship, win over the no-nonsense Northerners of his home town and convince the Royal Ballet School that he's got what it takes.
Why should I see it?
You'll live every step of Billy's journey with him, marvelling at his growing talent in beautifully choreographed dance scenes, laughing along at the lighter moments and rooting for him every step of the way as he aims for the top.
Featuring Elton John's superb songs and impassioned performances from its young lead actors, Billy Elliot is a jubilant, inspiring piece of theatre.
