The play is written by James Graham, directed by Jeremy Herrin, and inspired by the documentary by Morgan Neville and Robert Gordon, exploring Vidal and Buckleys’ bitter political rivalry and historic clashes. Who’s involved in Best of Enemies?
Best of Enemies previews at the Noël Coward Theatre from 14 November for 14 weeks. The opening night takes place on Monday 28th November. Zachary Quinto has wowed audiences in The Boys in the Band, American Horror Story, and Star Trek, David Harewood has appeared in Homeland, Super Girl, and Ten Percent, reprising his role as William F. Buckley Junior:
- The show originally premiered at the Young Vic in December 2021
- The full cast and creative team has been announced for the West End production of Best of Enemies, an award-winning play by James Graham
- Zachary Quinto makes his West End debut as Gore Vidal
- David Harewood reprises the role of William F. Buckley Jr.
- Deborah Alli, Emilio Doorgasingh, Clare Foster, Tom Godwin, John Hodgkinson, Syrus Lowe, Kevin McMonagle and Sam Otto also star, each performing multiple roles
- The ensemble includes David Boyle, Lincoln Conway, Vivienne Ekwulugo, Jamie Hogarth and Saaj Raja.
- The play explores Vidal and Buckley's bitter political rivalry, which ultimately transformed political debate and revolutionised news broadcasting
- It won the South Bank Sky Arts Award for Best New Theatre Production, the Critics Circle Theatre Award for Best New Play and received two Olivier Award Nominations following its run at the Young Vic Theatre

The Noel Coward Theatre was formerly called the Albery Theatre, a West End theatre on St. Martin's Lane in the City of Westminster dating back to 1903. It was built by Sir Charles Wyndham.
