The critically acclaimed production of Bad Jews has announced that it will extend its run at the Arts Theatre in the West End until 11 July 2015.
Written by up-and-coming new playwright Joshua Harmon, Bad Jews premiered at the Roundabout Theatre in New York back in 2012 and had its UK premier at the Ustinov Studio at Bath Theatre Royal last summer. The production then transferred to the St James in January 2015, playing a sold out four-week run. Due to phenomenal public demand, the play moved to the Arts Theatre in March 2015, slap-bang in the centre of London’s West End.
Bad Jews tells the story of three cousins who comes to loggerheads over a treasured family heirloom belonging to their newly deceased grandfather. Set in a cramped Manhattan apartment on the night after the funeral, the vicious family quarrel about faith, legacy and belonging descends into spiteful depths of verbal and physical hilarity.
Jenna Augen plays bossy and fanatically religious Daphna, Ilan Goodman plays wealthy sports mad Liam, Gina Bramhill plays Liam’s non-Jewish girlfriend Melody, and Joe Coen plays Liam’s brother who just wants a quiet life. The cast of four have received unanimous praise for their performances in Michael Longhurst’s witty production of Bad Jews.
The production is designed by Richard Kent, with lighting design by Richard Howell and sound design by Adrienne Quartly.
Bad Jews is now booking at the Arts Theatre through to 11 July 2015 and it looks set to be this summers run-away hit.
