Backstroke will open at the Donmar Warehouse on 14 February.
Joining the previously announced Tamsin Greig and Celia Imrie are Lucy Briers (Ivanov, Wyndham's Theatre), Anita Reynolds (Twelfth Night, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) and Georgina Rich (Between Us, Arcola Theatre). Chloe Hart and Rhashan Stone also feature in filmed scenes within the production.
The play follows a mother and daughter whose relationship is complex, shaped by the practical challenges of the present and the unresolved emotional weight of their shared past.
Led by designer Lez Brotherston, Backstroke's creative team includes lighting by Paule Constable, sound design by Christopher Shutt, and video design by Gino Ricardo Green. Scarlett Mackmin contributes choreography, Anna Cooper oversees casting, and Fiona Dunn serves as associate director.
Backstroke will play at the Donmar Warehouse from 14 February - 12 April 2025.
