Andrew Scott is returning to London's West End to play every character in Uncle Vanya. The star of Sherlock, Fleabag and His Dark Materials will appear at the Duke of York's Theatre for a five-week run from 15 September.
Wessex Grove, Gavin Kalin Productions, and Kater Gordon have announced that Andrew Scott will return to the West End this autumn in a brand new adaptation of Chekhov's masterpiece.
Adapted by Simon Stephens, directed by Sam Yates, and designed by Rosanna Vize, the production begins at the Duke of York's Theatre on 15 September.
Andrew Scott will play every role in Simon Stephen's definitive new version of this masterpiece on love, art, sex, and attempted murder.
The production will reunite Scott and Stephens who previously collaborated on Sea Wall and Birdland, and Scott with Yates following their work together on the short film; The Hope Rooms; and producers Benjamin Lowy and Emily Vaughan-Barratt from Wessex Grove after working with Scott on Sea Walland Hamlet respectively.
About Vanya
Chekhov's late masterpiece examines human behaviour in all of its beautiful, terrible, laughable, contradictions. The dark comedy centres around a wealthy couple who plans to sell their country estate, much to the humiliation of their family members who work there.
