Almeida Theatre announces new season that features Daisy Edgar-Jones and Ruth Wilson

The theatre's Artistic Director Rupert Goold announces five new productions as part of its 2025 season with the first one kicking off at the tailend of this year in December.

Almeida Theatre announces its 2025 season.

Kicking off on 10 December, Rebecca Frecknall (Cabaret) will direct A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Another Tennessee Williams play following her multi-award winning production of A Streetcar Named Desire, the play will star Kingsley Ben-Adir, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Lennie James. A Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will play from 10 December until 1 February 2025.

The full cast for A Cat on the Hot Tin Roof has also been announced today. Joining Ben-Adir, Edgar-Jones and James are Derek Hagen, Lennie James, Ukweli Roach, Ria Zmitrowicz, Guy Burgess, Clare Burt and Seb Carrington.

The theatre will next showcase the world premiere of Otherland, a new play by Chris Brush (Standing at the Sky's Edge) and directed by Next to Normal's Ann Yee. Otherland will run from 11 February to 15 March 2025.

In March, Eugène Ionesco’s absurdist satire Rhinoceros will get a new production, translated and directed by Omar Elerian (The Chairs). It will run from 25 March to 26 April 2025. In May, Ava Pickett's Susan Smith Blackburn Prize winning play 1536 will run from 6 May - 7 June 2025 and will be directed by Lyndsey Turner (Chimerica).

Wrapping up their 2025 season is a new production of Eugene O’Neill’s drama A Moon for the Misbegotten. Running from 17 June to 16 August, A Moon for the Misbegotten will star Michael Shannon and Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson. This production will also be directed by Rebecca Frecknall.
