What is Juno and the Paycock about?
Seán O’Casey's poignant drama is set in Dublin during the Irish Civil War, focusing on the Boyle family's struggles with poverty and political turmoil. The play portrays the dreams and delusions of 'Captain' Jack Boyle, whose refusal to work and reliance on an expected inheritance leads to the family's downfall. Through the resilient character of Juno, the play explores themes of survival, disillusionment, and the harsh realities of life in a conflict-ridden society.
