Myra's Story Tickets

Here’s your chance to see a heartbreaking, heart-warming play that was a smash hit in Ireland and delighted the crowds at Edinburgh Fringe for three years in a row. Set on the streets of Dublin and described by many as a devastating, heartfelt piece of theatre, Myra's Story follows a homeless woman who finds herself in a hostel and decides to tell her tale. The result is full of heart and humour, running at the Trafalgar Theatre on selected days from 19th September to 18th October 2023.

Myra's Story is written by Irish playwright Brian Foster, whose impressive writing career kicked off at 39 years old. His character Myra is both likeable and vulnerable, apparently a composite blend of a number of street drinkers Foster knew back in his home town of Derry in Northern Ireland. Foster has also delighted audiences with The Trophy Collector, The Most Haunted House in Derry, The Butterfly of Killybegs, A Miracle in Ballymore, Colm Cille and Lillibulerro.

Based on his successful play Maire: A Woman of Derry, it stars Fíonna Hewitt-Twamley and is beautifully directed by Michael Scott. Myra’s Story theatre tickets deliver you to a world that nobody aspires to. But Myra’s life has value all the same, as revealed by this wonderful one-woman performance.

In 2021 the Dubliner Fíonna Hewitt-Twamley’s one woman performance was given one of the most coveted awards at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival: the Bobby Award, Broadway Baby’s top honour for Outstanding Performance. The award followed 21 sold-out performances at the Palais de Varietie Spiegeltent in Edinburgh’s George Square Gardens.

What's the plot of Myra’s Story?

The star of the show is Myra McLaughlin, a middle-aged homeless alcoholic woman eking out a life on Dublin’s streets. She has epic tales to share of a wild past, when she encountered all sorts of crazy adventures. The actor portrays all the roles the character talks about vividly and inspiringly, working with incredible skill and sensitivity to bring Myra to life
