Mozart: Her Story in London

Mozart: Her Story is a brand new American musical, on its way to the Theatre Royal Drury Lane for just two magical nights. Did you know Mozart had a very talented sister? This show celebrates her, and it has already wowed audiences at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Billed as a thrilling new musical, the production cleverly blends Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s classic music with more than twenty modern tunes by Tegan Summer and Gregory Nabours, who gave us Marilyn! The New Musical.

Mozart: Her Story - The Story

In this untold true story, Wolfgang Mozart’s real-life estranged sister, Nan, is a brilliant composer in her own right but like so many women in the male-focused 1700s, she isn’t allowed perform in public because society thinks it’s immoral.

Some female composers at the time released their music under false male names. As you can imagine, they’ve been long forgotten. But one woman, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s older sister Maria Anna Mozart, was particularly talented even though her existence isn’t mentioned in history books or movies. This brand new musical celebrates her at long last, as the plot reveals the siblings’ journey through love and hate, tragedy and redemption.

Mozart: Her Story cast and creatives

There’s an all-star West End and Broadway cast ready and waiting to create the magic, including Gabrielle Brooks (Get Up! Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical, Once on this Island) as Nan Mozart herself, Tyrone Huntley (Hello, Dolly!, Jesus Christ Superstar) as her brother the composer, with Anthony Rapp (Rent, If/Then, Star Trek: Discovery) as Count Franz von Walsegg, and Laura Pitt-Pulford from Standing at the Sky’s Edge as Anna Maria Mozart.

They’re joined by Vinny Coyle as Johann Baptist zu Sonnenburg, Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer as Constanze Weber, and Emily Squibb as Karoline von Walsegg / Cover Nan, Emily Panes, Elisabeth Snegir, Daisie Mariella, Jordan Fox, Harry Chandler, Bethaney Wellings-Davies, Evie-Leigh Savage, Jacob Wye, Larissa Gerske, Maxfield Haynes, Addison Ector and Charlotte Edmonds. The fun is directed by Stephanie Klemons.

There’s music and additional lyrics from Gregory Nabours, and the Book and Lyrics come from Tegan Summer. Colette Freedman does the Dramaturgy, Dwight Roden and Desmond Richardson - founders of Complexions Contemporary Ballet – are responsible for the Choreography, and Andy Walmsley is the Scenic Designer. Christine Darch is the Costume Designer and Davidè Torchio designed the hair. Prema Mehta is the Lighting Designer, Chris Whybrow the Sound Designer, and Jill Green and Associates’ Olivia Laydon and Tom Shiels are responsible for the casting.
