Michael Jackson was one of the most popular entertainers of all time. His dance skills made him a legend, inspiring the world to moonwalk. His albums sold in their millions. Now his unique artistry is being showcased in a brand-new musical.
The show focuses on the making of Jackson’s legendary 1992 Dangerous World Tour. Created by the Tony winning Director and Choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, in cahoots with the twice-Pulitzer Prize winning writer Lynn Nottage, it’s about so much more than the music. This is a jukebox musical with a difference, containing more than 25 of MJ’s brilliant songs, and while MJ has all the moves it also reveals the extraordinary mind and creative spirit behind the tunes.
MJ The Musical was due to premiere on Broadway in mid-2020 but fell victim to Covid. Ephraim Sykes was originally cast as Jackson but was replaced by Myles Frost in June 2021. When it finally opened the show had mixed reviews from critics, but audiences knew better. Along with the Tony won by Myles Frost it won Tonys for Best Choreography, Best Lighting Design, and Best Sound Design. The original cast recording scored equally high, netting a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theater Album. January 2024 saw the Broadway production grossing a mighty $170.9 million, seen by more than 1.1 million people.
An impressive cast and creative team
A fantastic cast joins Myles Frost. Ashley Zhangazha (Tina) plays Joseph Jackson / Rob. Mitchell Zhangazha (Ain't Too Proud) plays Michael, Philippa Stefani (Wicked) is Rachel, and Phebe Edwards (The Lion King) plays Katherine Jackson / Kate.
Matt Mills (Dream Girls) portrays Berry Gordy / Nick, while Rohan Pinnock-Hamilton (Get Up Stand Up) is Tito Jackson / Quincy Jones. Matt Gonsalves (Dear Evan Hansen) is Alejandro, and Jon Tsouras (Sunset Boulevard) plays Dave.
The creative team is equally experienced, including Scenic Design by Derek McLane (Moulin Rouge! The Musical), Lighting Design by Natasha Katz (Once), Costume Design by Paul Tazewell (Hamilton), Sound Design by Gareth Owen (Come From Away), Projection Design by Peter Nigrini (Dear Evan Hansen), plus Hair and Wig Design by Charles LaPointe (The Color Purple). Musical Supervision is by David Holcenberg (Matilda The Musical), and the Orchestrations and Arrangements are by David Holcenberg and Jason Michael Webb (The Color Purple).

Absolutely fantastic!!This was the best show I have seen in London, and I have already seen many! Michael Jackson's songs and a group of really talented people in singing and dancing, along with impressive costumes and scenes! The leading actor and dancer was something else! He was so close to MJ's style! I can't think of anything that he could do better! A true talent! Extraordinary dancing and a wonderful voice! It's really worth seeing this musical!! The musicians actors dancers especially the woman who played his Mother as well as the young and older lead actors, worked exceptionally well. Great show but be careful of seatingWe were seated in B26 - B29. The sound was difficult. We didn't have the full audio from speaker being so upfront. I'm partially deaf so found it difficult. Equally, it's difficult due to looking up at stage with a neck injury. I feel that clear description needs to be given as this was not clear. However, with adjustment and lip reading some of show, it was enjoyable. Costume, energy, excitement and show were brilliant. Well done to the teenage MJ... he was phenomenal (1.30 pm, 24/12/24)

Less expensive to buy greatest hits and listen at homeI'm on Christmas vacation with my family and we were excited to see this show as it got rave reviews in New York, but it was only so-so here. Broadway performer Myles Frost is returning to the role that earned him a Tony Award for the West End premiere of MJ THE MUSICAL.
Winner of Best Actor in a Musical at this year's Tony Awards, Frost will play the lead role of Michael Jackson. Further casting is to be confirmed.

This show is about so much more than the music. MJ reveals the backdrop to Jackson’s outstanding 1992 Dangerous World Tour, which set the stage for a lifetime of fame, fortune, and truly extraordinary tunes.
