Miss Myrtle's Garden in London
Make your way Off-West End to the Bush Theatre to experience the aptly-named Miss Myrtle’s Garden, a gorgeous, warm-hearted look at the way we harness the past in an effort to confidently cope with the present. This witty world premiere production is written by Danny James King and directed by the Bush Theatre's new Artistic Director, Taio Lawson, a richly embroidered exploration of one woman's courage. Book tickets for an uplifting experience you'll remember for a long time to come.
What is Miss Myrtle's Garden about?
Miss Myrtle might be old but she doesn't visit the past. The past visits her as she rambles around her untidy garden in an area that's changing fast. Harnessing her sharp tongue to keep things in order, she has to cope with her grandson Rudy and his close friend Jason, who need a place to stay, and drunken Eddie who can't seem to resist peeing up against her garden wall. Rudy keeps asking questions about the past but Myrtle doesn’t want to be troubled by ghosts. All she wants is a peaceful, quiet life. When dementia raises its ugly head, even more complex questions about grief, love and understanding start to demand answers. But does she have enough time?
Generously supported by Charles Holloway OBE, this touching story will bring a smile to your face when it heads to the Royal Court Theatre for its debut.
