The rowdy, mischievous and thoroughly disreputable knight Sir John Falstaff hatches a plan to restore his fortunes, deciding to try to seduce two rich housewives, Mistress Ford and Mistress Page. But the tables soon turn on him as, wise to his schemes and keen to enjoy the last laugh, they play some tricks of their own. This gorgeous piece of theatre pokes fun at middle class England, ultimately falling into complete chaos as the mischief, madness and metamorphoses come to a brilliant head.
