Starring:
Bill Pullman, David Harbour
The excitement is mounting fast. David Harbour and Bill Pullman will be back in the West End for summer 2022, taking starring roles in Theresa Rebeck’s new drama, Mad House. The world premiere takes place at the Ambassadors Theatre, the action is reputed to be both dark and funny, and it’s directed by Moritz von Stuelpnagel. There’s a strictly limited run on the cards, from 26th June to 4th September, so grab tickets while you can.
David Harbour plays Michael. His theatre work includes Cal in Camo, Glengarry Glen Ross, Romeo and Juliet, The Merchant of Venice and many more popular productions. The stage and screen veteran Bill Pullman returns to the London stage to play Daniel. His previous stage work includes All My Sons, The Other Place, Oleanna, and The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?
What's the plot of Mad House?
The scene? A family reunion. The setting? Rural Pennsylvania. It’s time for people to pay their last respects... or their final disrespects. Michael is back in his childhood home looking after his dying father Daniel. His brother Ned and sister Pam are keen to figure out how much money their dad has left in his Will, and even keener to get their hands on it. The result? It’s a madhouse. Don’t miss it.
Who is Mad House for?
This is an adult comedy dealing with themes children won’t understand.

Difficult subjects well handledSome people might not want to engage with the subject matter of madness, illness, family tensions and death. But I was OK with it because it was handled well and the high level of acting encouraged empathy and emotion from the audience and indeed a fair bit of laughter.

Incredibly thoughtful experienceI went into this show not expecting much, if anything. I received much more. The acting and the story were both so emotive, I was really taken aback. I would highly recommend this Platz if you are a close confines dark humour fan, this show is for you.
