Jane Eyre in London
When Jane accepts a position as Governess at Thornfield Hall, little does she expect a spark to kindle between her and the brooding Mr Rochester. As you watch her fall under his spell, something hides in the shadows, waiting to destroy her happiness.
Experience the unexpected twists and turns of one woman’s life from the humble school room to a towering manor house and the sweeping Yorkshire moors. With heart-stirring choreography and music that captures the essence of her timeless tale, watch Jane’s journey unfold.
With choreography by Cathy Marston, and music played live, Northern Ballet’s brilliant dance actors bring this tale of romance, jealousy and dark secrets to life.

Stylish and modern adaptationThis adaptation of Janr Eyre was very good. Despite the length it remained engaging throughout and it stayed sufficiently true to the book. The music and staging was modern, stylish and well thought out, the main singer especially was exceptional. The stages of the plot were divided artistically through costume changes and the intensity of the relationship between Jane and Mr Rochester was very convincing. As a book lover I was concerned that the most powerful moments in the book would be lost, however I was happily surprised to find the play dramatically involving, both as a love story and as a tale of self empowerment.

Review: JANE EYRE at the National Theatre
by Stacey Tyler | Sunday, October 1 2017, 20:35
Based on the original novel by Charlotte Brontë, Bristol Old Vic’s adaptation of JANE EYRE has been imaginatively catapulted into the 21st century. This version is a coming of age story, which focuses on the importance of Jane as a woman, who, in spite of everything, fights for herself and her freedom in a brave and unforgiving way. This reworking is as relevant now as ever. In a time where women are still fighting for equality; whether that be in monetary terms or simply in how they are viewed by the world, Jane Eyre is flying the feminism flag high and not apologising for doing so.

Review: Jane Eyre at the National Theatre
by Phil Willmott | Sunday, September 20 2015, 20:00
Whilst the nineteenth century yielded few great plays it certainly provided a feast of fine novelists and Charlotte Bronte’s JANE EYRE has remained a firm favourite down the generations.
It’s been adapted for the stage and screen many, many times but few directors have had the opportunity Bristol’s Old Vic Theatre gave to rising star director, Sally Cookson.
