What's the plot of Eddie Izzard Great Expectations?

Great Expectations was written by Charles Dickens during 1860 – 1861 during a time of dramatic social change, which is reflected by the plot.

The play, adapted by Izzard’s brother Mark, follows the childhood and young adulthood of Pip, a country blacksmith's apprentice who comes into a fortune thanks to a mysterious benefactor. He moves to London, enters high society, and meets the beautiful Estrella, who he falls in love with. But she can’t return his feelings.

The mysterious benefactor turns out to be someone completely unexpected... and not in a good way. What happens to Pip? Come along and see. There’s no age limit.
