Fawlty Towers in London
Don't miss the comedy of the year. If you're a fan of FAWLTY TOWERS, you can't afford to miss this adaptation.
Fifty years ago FAWLTY TOWERS exploded onto our TV screens and made sitcom history. Now the classic comedy has been adapted for the West End by John Cleese, who played Basil Fawlty, and it’s on stage at the Apollo Theatre.
Why You Should See Fawlty Towers
- If you liked the TV series, you'll adore this stage adaptation which combines three of the best-loved episodes from the original series.
- The leading cast includes actors Hemi Yeroham, Victoria Fox, Adam Jackson-Fox and Anna-Jane Casey.
- Endorsed by the creators of the original show (John Cleese and Connie Booth), it is predicted to be the comedy of the year.
Fawlty Towers - The Story
The action takes place in a fictional hotel in the seaside town of Torquay in Devon. Basil and Sybil have been tipped off about a visit by hotel inspectors, who Basil is keen to impress. As he does his awful best to ingratiate himself with the guests he believes are the inspectors, things quickly begin to go downhill. You’ll meet the famous Germans and the guest from hell Mrs Richards, and Basil’s cringe-worthy antics will keep you laughing to the end.
About Fawlty Towers
All the familiar characters are on stage: Basil and his wife Sybil, their assistant Polly, and Manuel the trainee waiter from Barcelona. Cleese himself was involved in the casting, assembling a top-class 18-strong team of talent. The two-hour play is based on three original TV episodes: ‘The Hotel Inspector’ and ‘The Germans’ from series one, and ‘Communication Problems’ from series two, all brought together in a new finale.
Fawlty Towers Cast & Creatives
The show stars Adam Jackson-Smith as Basil, Anna-Jane Casey as Sybil, and Paul Nicholas as the Major. Hemi Yeroham plays Manuel and Victoria Fox plays Polly. Cleese himself and Connie Booth, who played Sybil in the TV series, are the writers, and the fun is directed by Caroline Jay Ranger.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to see this BBC sitcom, which became one of the greatest TV programmes of all time, on stage. FAWLTY TOWERS heads to the West End this spring, so book your tickets today to avoid disappointment.

Views Poor - Seats Need To Be Staggered. Show GoodThe show was good and entertaining, but not the best value for money at £130/seat for a 1 hour 40 minute show. Particularly, when considering how poor and out out of date of the seating layout and the potential of having having your view restricted by other members of the audience, even for very tall people. Worth putting up with the viewing restrictions if you are a dedicated Fawlty Towers fan, but less so if you are simply watching out of general interest.

Must see, whether you remember the TV show or not.The show was excellent. Basil’s character was superbly portrayed. Sounded & moved like John Cleese himself apart from the leg curl on the turn of the silly walk. Mrs Richards needed more detached haughtiness and slightly less venom, perhaps. We had the misfortune to be 1 row in front of a self-styled running commentator, non-stop & clearly audible throughout both acts, predicting lines, and calling out, “No, they’re mixing them,” when TV plots were skilfully merged. Best actor for me was the spoons salesman whose performance paid perfect tribute to the late Bernard Cribbins.

Rather dated comedyI would say that this comedy is very much old style which the present day generations wouldn't really understand it. The comedy relating to the Germans should not be included within a comedy play like this as I am sure the present day generations would find offensive and shouldn't be used in present day.
