Billed as an 'enchanting triple bill', these gorgeous dream ballets have been re-imagined to deliver a unique open air experience, bringing Rodgers & Hammerstein’s delicious music to vibrant life through dance - and dance alone.

About Rodgers & Hammerstein's Dream Ballets

Three of the UK’s leading musical theatre choreographers are involved in this spectacular production, accompanied on stage by a live 26-piece orchestra, the Sinfonia Smith Square, and set to the lovely scores of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s beloved dream ballets.

Dream ballets are all about the dance, with no singing involved. They reflect the themes, plots and characters of the original production using professional dancers instead of actors. The concept of the dream ballet became well known thanks to Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1943 musical Oklahoma!, where there's an 18 minute dream ballet finale to the first act choreographed by Agnes de Mille. But dream ballets have been used in musical theatre for a long time before that, and now they're a well-known element in theatre's toolbox.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Dream Ballets cast and creatives

Choreography is by Julia Cheng (Fiddler On The Roof) who handles Allegro, Shelley Maxwell (Get Up Stand Up) who choreographs Oklahoma!, and Kate Prince (Message in a Bottle, Zoo Nation) who creates the dance for Carousel. Extended new musical arrangements for all three dream sequences are by the Tony Award winning Simon Hale, who gave us Girl from the North Country. The show is generously supported by The Thistle Trust and presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
