Don Juan in Soho in London
Starring:
David Tennant
Don Juan in Soho comes from the hugely talented pen of British playwright Patrick Marber, based on Molière's popular Dom Juan, a French comedy in five acts, which is in turn based on the legend of Don Juan by Tirso de Molin, set in the 1300s and published in Spain in the year 1630.
Back in 2006/7 Stephen Wight played Don Juan's sidekick Stan, 'keeper of the Blackberry' on which our anti-hero stores a list of the five thousand women he has seduced... so far. The actor snagged the coveted Evening Standard Theatre Award 2007 for Outstanding Newcomer for his exceptional performance. DJ's wife was played by Laura Pyper and David Ryall his ancient dad, Louis.
The score, played through the interludes, was a strange yet compelling blend of Mozart and Techno, thanks to Adam Cork, and the original settings by Christopher Oram came in for plenty of praise. It was widely tipped as hilarious, and The Sun's critic called it, “A marvellous end-of-year bonus." Now there's a brand new production of this deliciously scandalous play due in town, directed by Patrick Marber himself and playing at Wyndham's Theatre from March 2017 for an 11 week run.
Tennant's last theatreland appearance was in Josie Rourke's highly regarded Much Ado About Nothing, at Wyndham's Theatre in 2011. This time around the set and costume design is by Anna Fleischle, and Adam Cork returns to handle the sound and music. West End production comes from Matthew Byam Shaw, Nia Janis and Nick Salmon for Playful Productions, in association with Sonia Friedman Productions.
Because the original production didn't transfer to the West End, relatively few people have seen it. Now that's about to change, and the anticipation is already mounting.

AmusingThe story line was unexpected and very funny. David Tennant was excellent in the lead but he was very well supported by the rest of the cast, especially Stan his driver.

Be seduced by David Tennant next spring!

Not many dynamic screen actors are equally electrifying on stage but David Tennant is one of them.
As well as becoming a household name as the tenth Doctor in the BBC's DOCTOR WHO, he's also triumphed as the lead in a number of other TV hits including BROADCHURCH and JESSICA JONES.
